TREE CROWN THINNING SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS
The crown thinning process involves the removal of branches without altering the size of the tree. When thinning the crown, we are sensitive to the species, as each tree will react in a different way according to how and when it is pruned. There is an art to performing this type of work that requires a wealth of training, knowledge and experience. At Canopy Tree we have this in abundance, ensuring that only the right methods of tree thinning are used.
Through thinning the crown area of the tree you remove branches in a uniform manner. This is usually calculated in per cent; 10, 15, 20 or 25%. It is recognised that in general, 20-25% is the maximum leaf area that should be removed in any one growing season.
