Tree Removal Southern Highlands, Wollondilly & Wingecarribee

Removing a tree is never a decision to take lightly. Whether it's become dangerous, diseased, storm-damaged, or simply in the wrong spot, it’s important the job is done properly. At Canopy Tree, we’ve been safely removing trees across the Southern Highlands, Wollondilly, and Wingecarribee for over 25 years. We’re fully qualified, well-equipped, and committed to doing the job right with care, caution, and a tidy finish.

Our experienced arborists hold AQF Level 3 qualifications and know how to assess each tree on its own terms. We look at structure, health, location, and potential hazards before taking action. Safety comes first, both for our team and your property.

We handle all types of tree removals, including:

  • Large or mature trees in confined spaces
  • Hazardous or storm-damaged trees
  • Trees interfering with structures or services
  • Trees needing removal for development or landscaping

We Use the Right Gear for the Job

We’ve got the equipment and experience to deal with removals big or small. That includes chainsaws, tracked chippers, chip trucks, and an excavator when needed. If space is tight, we can bring in our compact Avant loader to access tricky areas without tearing up your garden.

Where required, we also partner with contractors for access to larger machines like tub grinders or bigger excavators useful for large-scale clearing jobs or stubborn root systems.

What Happens to the Waste?

We chip branches and foliage on-site and always encourage clients to reuse the mulch in their garden. It’s great for moisture retention, weed suppression, and soil health. If you prefer, we’ll take it away—your choice. Larger wood can be cut for firewood or even left behind for habitat creation.

If you or your neighbours have a community garden, orchard, or open space that could benefit from woodchip or logs, just let us know. We’re always keen to reduce waste and share resources where possible.

Tree Removal and Council Permits

Depending on where you live, tree removal may require council approval. We understand the local regulations across Wingecarribee Shire, Wollondilly Shire and the broader Southern Highlands. If a permit is needed, we can help you navigate the process and provide supporting arborist reports where required.

It’s always best to check before removing a tree, especially native species or anything near boundaries, waterways, or conservation zones.

Land Clearing and Large-Scale Removals

Got a rural block or larger area to clear? We’ve got you covered. Our 7.5-ton excavator comes with a mulching head, stick rake, grapple saw, ripper, and more. This setup is ideal for clearing paddocks, overgrown sections, or preparing land for development.

We can remove large quantities of trees and undergrowth efficiently while keeping site impact to a minimum. All works are carried out with trained operators and an eye for safety, timing, and a neat finish.

FAQs

Q1: Do I need council approval to remove a tree on my property?
A1: In many cases, yes. Each council has its own Tree Preservation Order or Development Control Plan. We can advise you on the rules for your area and help with any paperwork.

Q2: What if the tree is near my house or fence?
A2: No problem. We specialise in removals in confined or sensitive areas. We’ll use climbing techniques or rigging systems to lower branches safely without damaging your property.

Q3: Can I keep the woodchip or firewood?
A3: Absolutely. Many of our clients choose to keep the woodchip for their gardens or stack the firewood for winter. Just let us know what you prefer.

Q4: How long does tree removal usually take?
A4: That depends on the size and location of the tree. Most jobs are completed within a day, but we’ll give you a clear estimate upfront once we’ve inspected the site.

Q5: What areas do you cover?
A5: We cover the Southern Highlands, Wollondilly, and Wingecarribee shires, including towns like Bowral, Mittagong, Picton, Moss Vale, and surrounding areas.
